Good Evening and Happy Monday February 9th, 2026 North Dakota Fans! I hope you had a fantabulous Monday filled with boundless joy, radiant happiness, and an abundance of positive energy! May this day have brought you delightful moments, unexpected smiles, and opportunities that uplift your spirit and make your heart sing with pure optimism and excitement. I am going to talk some UND Basketball, Tennis and Hockey today.
The North Dakota Men's Basketball team engaged in two intense matchups during the first week of February. On Thursday, February 5th, they faced Nebraska Omaha (UNO) in a closely contested game, emerging victorious with a narrow 76-73 win. Two days later, on Saturday, February 7th, the team competed against the University of Denver (DU), where they experienced a challenging defeat, losing 98-79. Simultaneously, the UND Women's Basketball team also participated in competitive games during the same time. On Thursday, February 5th, they battled against UNO in a tight contest, ultimately falling short with a 58-54 loss. The following Saturday, February 7th, the Fighting Hawks demonstrated their resilience by defeating the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) with a solid 68-58 victory.
The UND Men's Tennis team faced a challenging weekend, competing against two formidable opponents. On Saturday, February 7th, they encountered the Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) team and suffered a decisive 4-0 defeat. Undeterred, the Fighting Hawks returned to the court the following day, Sunday, February 8th, to face the University of Nebraska. Unfortunately, they experienced another loss, this time with a slightly closer score of 4-1. Meanwhile, the UND Women's Tennis team also had an intense weekend of competition. On Friday, February 6th, they battled against the Northern Illinois (NIU) Huskies and were defeated 6-1. However, the team showed resilience the very next day, Saturday, February 7th, when they bounced back and secured a strong 6-1 victory against the University of Northern Iowa (UNI).
The North Dakota Hockey team has solidified its strong performance this week, securing a notable position in national collegiate hockey rankings. After a weekend of intense competition that included a challenging 3-2 overtime loss followed by a decisive 4-1 victory, the team has demonstrated its skill and resilience. Both the prestigious USA Hockey/AHCA Poll and the USCHO.com Poll have recognized the team's exceptional play, ranking North Dakota at the number three position nationally.
