The University of North Dakota Hockey team faced a challenging defeat in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference Frozen Faceoff Semifinal game. Competing against the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs in a high-stakes, single-elimination match, UND struggled to maintain their momentum. The Bulldogs dominated the game, securing a decisive 5-1 victory and eliminating UND from the tournament. This loss marks the fifth consecutive NCHC Frozen Faceoff Semifinal game in which the Green and White have been knocked out, adding to the team's disappointment. Despite the setback, the UND Hockey team remains focused on their next opportunity, eagerly anticipating the announcement of their placement in the upcoming National Tournament.
The Fighting Hawks Softball team showcased their resilience and competitive spirit during an intense double header against the Drexel University (DU) Dragons on Tuesday, March 10th, 2026. The first game proved challenging for the Hawks, as they were defeated with a score of 10-4, demonstrating the tough competition they faced. However, in the second game, the team displayed remarkable determination and skill, ultimately emerging victorious in a nail-biting contest with a narrow 6-5 win. The following day, on Wednesday, March 11th, the UND Softball team continued their impressive performance by facing Penn (the University of Pennsylvania) Quakers. In a dominant display of athletic talent the Fighting Hawks decisively defeated Penn with a commanding 10-1 Win.
The UND Men's Tennis team showcased their prowess on the court during an impressive week of competition. On Tuesday, March 10th, 2026, the Hawks decisively defeated Nicholls State University (NICH) with a commanding 4-0 victory. Building on this momentum, the team continued their winning streak on March 12th by triumphing over the University of New Orleans (UNO) with a solid 4-1 performance.
Parallel to the men's team's success, the UND Women's Tennis team also demonstrated their skill and determination. On the same day as the men's match against Nicholls, the women narrowly secured a 4-3 win against NICH. Two days later, on March 12th, they continued their strong play by defeating UNO with a 4-2 score.
