The Ultimate Fighting Hawks Roundup: UND Soccer & Volleyball Post-Game Recap Meets North Dakota Football Recognition!

Furthermore, let's fuel ourselves with motivation and dive headfirst into today's Fighting Hawks Soccer, UND Volleyball, and North Dakota Football blog.


        On Thursday, September 3, 2026, UND Soccer faced off against the UCSB (UC Santa Barbara) Gauchos in a competitive match held in Riverside, California. During the opening half, the Gauchos dominated play when Delilah Vega-Aguilar managed to secure UCSB with an early 1-0 lead. However, when the second half commenced, the Hawks responded with two consecutive goals—one from Charlie Basinet and another from Avery Toms—which allowed them to take a 2-1 advantage. Yet the Gauchos fought back to equalize the match at 2-2. Ultimately, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos concluded their contest with a 2-2 tie. Subsequently, on Sunday, September 6th, 2026, the UND ladies returned to competition and squared off against the UC Riverside (UCR) Highlanders, also competing in Riverside, California. Throughout the first half, the Green and White controlled the tempo and benefited from scoring contributions by Hunter Borgel, which gave the Hawks an initial 1-0 lead. As the second half unfolded, the Highlanders took command of the game and received additional offensive contributions from both Macie Baird and Lauren Nguyen, allowing them to extend their lead to 2-1. In the end, the Hawks suffered a 2-1 defeat.


        The Fighting Hawks Volleyball squad faced off against the MER (Mercer) Bears across a pair of competitive matches held on both Friday, September 4th and Saturday, September 5th, 2026 in Grand Forks, North Dakota at the prestigious Betty Engelstad Sioux Center. Match 1: Opening things up, the Fighting Hawks claimed the 1st set with a solid 25-20 victory. However, Mercer answered back strong, taking the 2nd set 25-23 in a tight contest. The Bears then dominated set 3, defeating North Dakota 25-21. Continuing their momentum, Mercer secured the 4th set with a 25-16 win. Ultimately, UND Volleyball fell short, suffering a tough 3-1 loss. In Match 2: The Bears came out firing, winning set 1 by a score of 25-21. The Hawks showed resilience in set 2, mounting a comeback and edging out the Bears 25-18. The momentum shifted further in UND's favor during the 3rd set, where the Fighting Hawks claimed a 25-22 victory. In the decisive 4th set, North Dakota sealed the deal with an impressive 25-20 set win. UND emerged victorious with a commanding 3-1 match victory.



        Three North Dakota Football players have earned Missouri Valley Football Conference recognition following UND's impressive 62-26 win. Jerry Kaminski secured Offensive Player of the Week honors, marking the 2nd time he's received this distinction throughout his career. Trace Thaden claimed his inaugural Offensive Lineman of the Week recognition. Charles Langama captured his first-ever Special Teams Player of the Week accolade.
