Monday Fanatic Frenzy
March 21st and 22nd Sports Update: University of North Dakota Athletics The University of North Dakota (UND) Hockey team competed in the NCHC Frozen Faceoff against Western Michigan University (WMU) Broncos. Despite an initial scoreless period, WMU opened the scoring at 12:33. UND's Sacha Boisvert equalized shortly after. WMU subsequently scored two consecutive goals in the third period, with Grant Slukynsky and an additional goal pushing their lead to 3-1. Boisvert scored again for UND, but WMU's Samuel Sjolund secured a 4-2 victory with an empty-net goal. UND concluded their season with a 21-15-2 record.
In Softball, UND faced the University of South Dakota (USD) Coyotes in a 3-game series. The first game resulted in a 7-0 loss. The second game was more competitive, extending to nine innings. USD initially led 4-1, but UND mounted a comeback. Players Angie Dumlao, Honig, Hopfauf, and Camryn Lasota contributed critical runs. UND ultimately prevailed 6-5, demonstrating resilience and strategic gameplay.The series continues, with further updates to follow.
