I will be talking about UND Football, Hockey and Men's Basketball today.
The Fighting Hawk Football team delivered an impressive performance against Indiana State University (ISU) on Saturday, October 25th. In the first quarter, the team quickly established dominance by scoring an early touchdown, taking a 7-0 lead. ISU responded with a field goal, narrowing the score to 7-3 by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw the Fighting Hawks intensify their offensive strategy, scoring two consecutive touchdowns and extending their lead to 21-3. Before halftime, they added another field goal, pushing the score to 24-3. Continuing their momentum in the third quarter, the Hawks scored another touchdown, increasing their lead to 30-3. ISU managed to respond with a touchdown of their own, cutting the deficit to 30-10. The Fighting Hawks quickly countered by scoring again, bringing the score to 37-10. By the end of the third quarter, they had further extended their lead to an impressive 44-10. In the fourth quarter, UND scored a safety, adding two points to their total and bringing the score to 46-10. ISU scored a late touchdown, making the final score 46-17 in favor of the Fighting Hawks, securing a decisive victory. The UND Football team will now go play at USD (South Dakota). The game is on Saturday November 1st at 1pm.
The University of North Dakota Hockey team engaged in a thrilling weekend series against Clarkson University (CU), showcasing the dynamic and intense nature of collegiate hockey. The first match on Friday, October 24th, CU demonstrating exceptional offensive prowess, securing a commanding 5-2 victory that highlighted their strategic gameplay and athletic skill. In a remarkable display of resilience, the UND Hockey team bounced back on Saturday, October 25th, with a gritty and hard-fought 1-0 win that underscored their defensive capabilities and unwavering team spirit. This weekend series perfectly encapsulated the competitive essence of collegiate hockey, with both teams exhibiting remarkable talent, strategic depth, and passionate performance. Looking ahead, the UND Hockey team is set to return home for an anticipated weekend series against the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) on October 31st and November 1st, promising another exciting series in their competitive season.
The Fighting Hawks Men's Basketball Team concluded their preseason exhibition schedule with a challenging match against the Minnesota Gophers (UM) on Saturday, October 25th. Despite their best efforts, the Hawks experienced a significant defeat, losing by a substantial margin of 82-62 points. This last preseason Exhibition game provided valuable insights and preparation for the team as they gear up for their upcoming regular season. The Fighting Hawks are set to commence their official regular season opener with an away game against the Alabama Crimson Tide (Bama) on Monday, November 3rd, marking an important milestone in their competitive basketball journey.
