Speed, Sweat and Glory: The Tuesday Track and Field Rundown!
Good Afternoon and Happy Tuesday December 9th, 2025 Hawk Fans! As winter storms sweep across various regions, I extend heartfelt wishes for safety and warmth to those experiencing challenging weather conditions. For individuals braving the cold, staying indoors, bundling up, and ensuring personal comfort are paramount. Simultaneously, those fortunate enough to be in milder climates can relish the pleasant temperatures and enjoy outdoor activities. Regardless of your current location or weather circumstances, my sincerest hope is that you are having an extraordinary and fulfilling day, filled with positivity, comfort, and personal well-being. I have a Track and Field Update for you today.
The UND Track and Field team demonstrated remarkable performance during an intense weekend of competition from December 5th to 6th, participating in three distinct meets across different locations. At the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Holiday Open, UND athletes achieved an impressive twenty-three placements, with thrower Julia Matthews emerging as a standout performer, securing two notable positions and leading the Fighting Hawks. Meanwhile, at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, athlete Jadyn Keeler delivered an exceptional performance, claiming 8th place and surpassing her previous personal record. The men's track and field team also made significant strides, particularly in the 5,000 meters event. Notably, Matej Hrebacka delivered a breakthrough performance by setting a new school record in his heat. Another highlight came from the Early Bird at New Balance meet, where Paris Hoverson distinguished herself as the top North Dakota athlete, securing a commendable 15th place finish in the 5,000 meters competition. These achievements underscore the UND Track and Field team's growing prowess and competitive spirit across multiple events and disciplines.
