Good Morning and Happy Thursday January 8th, 2026 Hawk Fans! As this Thursday dawns, I send you wishes for a transformative day brimming with extraordinary moments and vibrant energy. Let your morning radiate with inner warmth, your afternoon surge with creative momentum, and your evening settle into a tranquil embrace of accomplishment. This day is a canvas waiting for your unique brushstrokes of passion and purpose. Approach each hour with an open heart and keen spirit, knowing that remarkable possibilities are woven into every interaction and experience. May unexpected joys dance around you, professional triumphs illuminate your path, and personal connections remind you of life's profound richness. Embrace this Thursday as a precious gift, filled with potential for growth, connection, and genuine happiness. Today's Feature will include former UND Head Football Coach and now Administrator Bubba Schweigert  and UND Football player Trace Thaden.

By request from a reader, I'm doing a feature on Bubba Schweigert. Bubba Schweigert's coaching career at the University of North Dakota is a testament to his dedication and passion for athletics. After initially serving as an assistant coach for UND, he departed in 2003 to pursue another coaching opportunity. In 2014, he returned to UND, this time taking the helm as Head Coach, a position he would hold for an impressive 11-year tenure. Currently, Schweigert serves as Senior Associate Athletic Director, focusing on Engagement and Mentorship, which allows him to continue making significant contributions to the university's athletic programs. His academic journey began at the University of Jamestown (UJ), where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He later furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree from the University of North Dakota, solidifying his commitment to both academic and athletic excellence.

Trace Thaden, a dedicated offensive lineman wearing jersey number 79 for the Fighting Hawks Football team, is originally from Omaha, Nebraska. He is pursuing a degree in Kinesiology while making significant contributions to the football program.  During Thaden's Freshman year in 2022 he redshirted and didn't play. During his redshirt freshman year in 2023, Thaden demonstrated his versatility and skill by participating in all 12 games. His sophomore season in 2024 saw him play in 10 games, further establishing his importance to the team. In his junior year of 2025, Thaden continued to excel, playing in all 14 games and solidifying his role as a key member of the offensive line. As he approaches his senior year in 2026, Thaden's consistent performance and commitment to the sport highlight his potential for continued success on the football field.
