Green, White and Drafted: North Dakota Makes More Draft Noise on Day Two!

Good Morning and Happy Monday June 29th, 2026 North Dakota Fans! As the week gracefully resets and the pace gradually picks up with renewed energy and fresh momentum, I sincerely and genuinely hope that today meets you with sharp focus and exceptional clarity of mind, steady and unwavering momentum that carries you forward with purpose, and little sparks of inspiration that light your way along the journey— guiding you thoughtfully and intentionally into a day that doesn't just go well and proceed smoothly, but unfolds into something genuinely exciting, powerful, and truly phenomenal in every meaningful and significant way possible! Before I talk about UND Hockey at the NHL Draft Day 2, I want to take a moment to say a very special and heartfelt Happy Birthday Shoutout to a Blog Family Member and my older Sister Brenna, wishing her all the best on her special day!

What an absolutely spectacular and remarkable day this has been for UND Hockey at the prestigious National Hockey League Draft, with the exciting continuation of the Draft with Rounds two through seven taking place on Saturday, June 27th, 2026! UND Commit Markus Ruck was fortunate enough to get chosen in Round 2 at number 39 overall by the very same team as his twin brother, the storied Pittsburgh Penguins organization, which represents an incredible achievement for both brothers. In the highly competitive 3rd round at number 69 overall, incoming freshman Ethan Mackenzie was selected by the talented Toronto Maple Leafs franchise, marking an exciting moment for the program. Future UND player Brayden Klimpke was selected at number 117 in the 4th round by the historic Montreal Canadiens, continuing the strong showing for North Dakota. In the fifth round, North Dakota Hockey saw an impressive two players get picked up by NHL teams in what proved to be a particularly successful round for the program. An incoming freshman Connor Davis was selected at number 129 and went to the Vancouver Canucks, while North Dakota Commit Cooper Williams went at number 158 to the Toronto Maple Leafs, rounding out another strong selection for the Fighting Hawks.
