On Saturday, July 4th, 2026, in what was a particularly special Fourth of July matchup held in front of 430 enthusiastic and devoted fans, the Grand Forks Spitfires faced off against the Wausau Ignite at Albrecht Field located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. In the opening inning, Spitfire player Sofia Meer scored a run to give Grand Forks an early and important lead at 1-0. Moving into inning 2, Grand Forks scored 3 additional runs with Laina Baker, Makenna Alexander, and Shannon Cunningham each crossing home plate while successfully keeping Wausau off the scoreboard to extend their lead to 4-0. In the 3rd inning, it was a strong and impressive showing for Ignite when Taylor Liebelt and Marley Teasley each scored runs to cut into the Spitfire lead at 4-2. In the 4th inning, Wausau got 1 run on the board with Brooke Steinhorst scoring to make it a closer and more competitive 4-3 game. On Tuesday, July 7th, 2026, the Grand Forks Spitfires faced off against the Minot Honeybees in an exciting matchup at Corbett Field located in Minot, North Dakota. Right from the opening inning, the Spitfires came out swinging strong, as Makenna Alexander, Sofia Meer, Shannon Cunningham, and Mattison Kwarta all managed to score, giving Grand Forks an impressive and commanding 4-0 lead heading into the second inning. The Spitfires continued their dominant performance in the 2nd inning when Sofia Meer, Shannon Cunningham, Mattison Kwarta, and Alex Graham all scored runs, which extended the Spitfire lead even further and kept the Honeybees completely scoreless at a decisive 8-0 game. In the 3rd inning, Grand Forks added even more to their lead by scoring 4 additional runs, which brought the overall score to an overwhelming 12-0. The scoring drought continued until officially returning in the 5th inning, where the Honeybees finally managed to score 3 runs, which cut into the deficit and made the score 12-3. The 6th inning saw zero scoring opportunities for either team, keeping the score unchanged. In the seventh inning, Minot players Bridget Chapman, Cayden Thomas, and Ellen Tarjan all scored runs, which cut yet further into the Spitfire lead, bringing the score to 12-6. The Grand Forks Spitfires officially took down and defeated the Minot Honeybees with a final score of 12-6. Grand Forks and Minot will play a double header at Corbett Field on Wednesday, July 8th, 2026, with games scheduled at 5:35pm CDT and 8:05pm CDT.
