The Grand Forks Replay: The Spitfires Post-Game Press and Player Interview
On Thursday, July 23rd, 2026, the Grand Forks Spitfires competed against the Madison Night Mares in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The Spitfires established an early 2-0 lead in the first inning through contributions from Sofia Meer and Shannon Cunningham. In the second inning, both teams scored, with Emma Peeples adding a run for Grand Forks and Luciana Moreno responding for Madison, extending the Spitfires' advantage to 3-1. The third inning remained competitive, as Hilary Blomberg scored for the Night Mares while the Spitfires answered to maintain a 4-2 lead. In the fifth inning, Shannon Cunningham extended Grand Forks' lead to 5-2. However, the Night Mares mounted a significant rally in the sixth inning, scoring seven runs to take a 9-5 lead. Grand Forks scored one run in the seventh inning through Shannon Cunningham but fell short, losing 9-6 to the Night Mares.
On Friday, July 24th, 2026, the Spitfires and Night Mares competed in Grand Forks. The Spitfires established an early advantage by scoring 6 runs in the first inning while holding the Night Mares scoreless, creating a 6-0 lead. Madison responded in the third inning with 4 runs, narrowing the gap to 6-4. The Spitfires extended their lead to 8-4 in the fourth inning with runs from Sofia Meer and Anna Elliott. Madison closed the margin to 8-6 in the fifth inning with runs from Tia Durst and Danielle Lucey. The Night Mares scored again in the seventh inning when Tia Durst brought the score to 8-7. The Spitfires won the game with a final score of 8-7.
