        Good Morning and Happy Thursday September 17th, 2026 North Dakota Fans! I genuinely and sincerely hope that your day unleashes in a truly wonderful and magnificent way! I'm here to deliver you with meaningful, thoughtful takes and truly valuable, insightful updates regarding the  UND Hockey team. Prepare yourself for an absolutely incredible, amazing hockey experience that authentically captures and embodies the genuine, true spirit of the cherished North Dakota hockey tradition and legacy. Let's jump right in together!


        UND Hockey has already made their selections for Captains who will be leading the team throughout the upcoming 2026-2027 season! Cole Reschny has been chosen to serve as the primary Captain, and notably, he will become the youngest player in North Dakota Hockey history to be selected for this prestigious leadership role. In addition to Reschny's appointment, the other talented players who have been selected to serve as leaders and represent the team are Cody Croal, Anthony Menghini, and Mac Swanson, all of whom will share in the responsibility of guiding their teammates.


        A remarkable total of three UND Hockey players have recently earned prestigious 2026-27 National Collegiate Hockey Conference Preseason All-Conference Team accolades. Among these distinguished honorees, the first selected is the newly named captain and Forward Cole Reschny. Furthermore, the second chosen selection was Defenseman Keaton Verhoeff. Finally, rounding out this impressive group, the third and final player honored is Goalie Jan Spunar.


        This week's Thursday Sports Feature is EJ Emery. Representing the North Dakota Hockey team with considerable pride, EJ Emery sports the distinctive number 6 jersey. Looking ahead to the 2026-2027 season, he will take on the role of Junior Defenseman, and notably, he hails from Compton, California, where he developed the solid defensive prowess that he brings to the ice. In terms of his overall career trajectory with the team, Emery has made appearances in 69 games, throughout which he has made meaningful contributions of 3 goals and 11 assists to support UND's collective efforts.
