       Good Afternoon and Happy Thursday September 10th, 2026 North Dakota Fans! I truly hope that your day is off to an absolutely amazing and wonderful start! The spotlight is shining incredibly bright, the energy in the air is absolutely sky-high, and it's definitely time for another thrilling and exciting edition of the Thursday Sports Feature! Today we are proudly featuring UND Football's Liam Becher and Softball's Hailey Bethune.



        I am starting today's edition off with Liam Becher. Liam Becher, donning the jersey number 67 as part of the UND Football roster, hails from the city of Iowa City located in Iowa. He stands as a fifth-year Offensive Lineman within the program. During his inaugural year, he remained absent from game action; however, beginning in his second year, he transitioned into a backup role. His contributions to North Dakota Football's offensive efforts proved instrumental during their season-opening matchup in year two, where the Hawks achieved a season peak of six hundred fifty-two yards of total offense. By his third year, Becher's exceptional blocking technique played a vital role in enabling the Hawks to achieve a ranking of number 13 throughout the Football Championship Subdivision when measured by red-zone scoring efficiency. Throughout his fourth year of eligibility, Liam Becher served as a key component of the offensive line unit that was responsible for allowing the second-fewest sacks within the entire Missouri Valley Football Conference. As his fifth year progresses, he has earned recognition by being selected to the prestigious Stats Perform and Football Championship Subdivision Football Central Preseason All-America 2nd team.


        Hailey Bethune proudly wears number 17 as a member of the Fighting Hawks Softball team. Moreover, she is heading into her Senior year of eligibility. Additionally, she is pursuing a Social Science major as her field of study. Furthermore, Bethune's sister Chloe is heading into her Junior year of eligibility plays for UND as a catcher, and the two of them hail from Lindell Beach, British Columbia. Meanwhile, she has accumulated an impressive 93 career games played with 27 career runs scored and 52 career hits. In the 2026 season, she notably played in 48 games, during which she recorded 18 runs and 31 hits.
