The Tuesday Morning Coffee: Your Fresh Cup Of Fighting Hawks Sports Buzz!

         Good Morning and Happy Tuesday September 1st, 2026 North Dakota Fans! I sincerely hope that your Tuesday goes absolutely fantastic and truly exceptional in every possible way! Bursting with genuine excitement, heartfelt optimism, and purposeful accomplishment from start to finish! With that said, I'm genuinely delighted to share with you the wonderful momentum and authentic passion that has been steadily growing throughout the UND Volleyball squad, the Fighting Hawks Soccer team and the North Dakota Football squad.


        It was action packed weekend for the North Dakota Volleyball team. On Friday, August 28th, 2026, the Fighting Hawks faced off against EWU, known as Eastern Washington. When the Hawks and Eagles met on the court, the Eagles defeated the Hawks decisively with a 3-0 victory. On Saturday, August 29th, 2026, UND took on SU, also called Seattle U Redhawks. The North Dakota Volleyball team fell short, losing the match 3-2. On Sunday, August 30th, UND squared up against CSU, identified as Chicago State. In set 1, the Hawks dominated, winning 25-12. Set number 2 proved much tighter, with North Dakota edging out the victory 25-20. In set number 3, UND crushed CSU, taking the set 25-15. The Hawks secured the match officially with a commanding 3-0 win.


        The Fighting Hawks Soccer team took on PC (Presbyterian) in a matchup on Thursday, August 27th, 2026. During the opening half, both squads found the back of the net—UND's Lillian Bashaw and PC's Julija Poplasen each contributed a goal, leaving the score evenly matched at 1-1 heading into halftime. Come the second half, it was all North Dakota, as Annie Stook broke through to score and secure a commanding lead for the Hawks. When the final whistle blew, UND had claimed a 2-1 victory over the Blue Hose. Moving forward to Sunday, August 30th, 2026, the Hawks squared off against the PVAM (Prairie View A&M) Panthers. In that opening half, the Hawks came out firing, with Cora Ellermann, Hannah Peters, and Hunter Borgel all finding the net for three goals, while PVAM's Destini Twiggs managed to put one away on the other end. The Hawks held a comfortable 3-1 advantage as both teams headed into the locker room for the second half. In the final frame, UND added one more to their total when Payton McKnight scored, ultimately sealing a decisive 4-1 triumph over the Panthers.



        After securing an impressive and dominant 42-21 victory in their season opener against Long Island, the UND Football team has experienced a significant rise in the rankings this week. In the Stats Perform Poll, the team has climbed impressively to claim the number 8 position. Meanwhile, the North Dakota Fighting Hawks have similarly ascended in the AFCA Coaches' Poll, where they now occupy the number 9 spot.
