        Good Morning and Happy Tuesday September 29th, 2026 Fighting Hawks Fans! I hope you have a fantastic day! Welcome to From The Stands To The Spotlight, where the passion, pride, and excitement of North Dakota Sports shine bright! Today's blog is filled with plenty of Fighting Hawks action as I share about UND Football, Fighting Hawks Soccer and North Dakota Volleyball.         Fighting Hawks Football continues its impressive upward trajectory through this week's Polls, building momentum as Homecoming draws near. The team has claimed the number 5 position in this week's Stats Perform Poll, a significant achievement that reflects their strong performance. Over in the AFCA FCS Coaches' Poll, meanwhile, the Hawks have solidified themselves with a respectable number 7 ranking. Beyond the team's success, Quarterback Jerry Kaminski has earned his 2nd MVFC Offensive Player of the Week award this season, further enhancing an already stellar resume that speaks to Kaminski's excellence and contributions to the Hawks' rise. Congratulations to Jerry Kaminski on receiving Offensive Player of the Week! From The Stands To The Spotlight is proud of you!


        On Thursday, September 24th, 2026, the UND Volleyball team faced off against the UNO (Omaha) Mavericks at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. During the opening set, UNO managed to edge out UND with a decisive 25-13 victory. Subsequently, in the second set, the Mavericks continued their momentum by defeating the Hawks 25-21. However, the Hawks bounced back in the 3rd set, securing a narrow 26-24 win. Ultimately, during the 4th set, Omaha clinched the overall match by defeating North Dakota 25-21, finishing with a commanding 3-1 victory. Moving forward to Saturday, September 26th, 2026, the Fighting Hawks Volleyball squad took on UST (St. Thomas) in their next matchup. In the opening set, North Dakota demonstrated strong play by winning 25-22. Yet in Set 2, UST managed to capture the victory with an impressive 25-21 score. Additionally, in set 3, the Tommies proved their strength by defeating the Hawks 25-19. Finally, in set 4, UST secured another dominant 25-12 win, thereby sealing a decisive 3-1 victory over UND.


        When Thursday September 24th, 2026 rolled around, UND Soccer found themselves facing off against their in-state rivals, the NDSU (North Dakota State) Bison. During the opening first half, UND managed to secure an early advantage after Cora Ellermann scored a goal, putting them ahead 1-0. As the action shifted to the 2nd half, the Hawks turned up the intensity significantly, scoring an impressive 3 goals through the efforts of Charlie Basinet (who contributed 2 goals) and Cora Ellermann once again, ultimately dominating the Bison with a convincing 4-0 final victory. Then, moving forward to Sunday September 27th, 2026, North Dakota took the field to compete against the SDSU (South Dakota State) Jackrabbits in another challenging matchup. Throughout the first half, UND demonstrated strong offensive capability by scoring a goal that established their 1-0 lead heading into halftime. However, once the second half commenced, South Dakota State completely took control of the game's momentum and flow. The Jackrabbits responded decisively by scoring 2 goals in succession, seizing the lead at 2-1. Ultimately, the Jackrabbits held strong to secure their 2-1 victory over the Hawks.
