        Good Afternoon and Happy Thursday October 8th, 2026 Hawks Fans! I hope you're having a spectacular Thursday! Get ready, because today's bllog is packed with plenty of Hawks action, analysis, and fun! We're diving into some Fighting Hawks Soccer Post - Game, recapping the latest UND Volleyball games, shining the spotlight on North Dakota Football's Ben Buxa for this week's Thursday Sports Feature! So grab your favorite game-day treat, get confortable, and let's kick things into high gear - because we're taking a deep dive into today's blog! Let's Go Hawks!


          The UND Soccer team faced off against the USD (South Dakota) Coyotes this past Sunday, October 4th, 2026, at Bronson Field in Grand Forks, North Dakota—marking the sole contest on the schedule this past weekend for the Green and White. During the opening half, the Coyotes' Klarissa Vega found the back of the net, establishing an early 1-0 advantage for USD while keeping the Fighting Hawks off the scoreboard. As the match progressed into the second half, USD pushed their lead further, and despite their efforts, North Dakota remained unable to break through, ultimately falling behind 2-0. When the final whistle sounded, USD emerged victorious with a decisive 2-0 triumph over UND.


        The North Dakota Fighting Hawks Volleyball squad played 2 matches spanning from October 1st, 2026 through October 3rd. Match 1 occurred on Thursday October 1st, 2026 against KC (Kansas City) Roos in Kansas City, Missouri. KC won set 1, 27-25. The Roos defeated the Hawks in set 2, 25-18. Kansas City beat North Dakota in set 3, 25-19. The Fighting Hawks lost to the Roos, 3-0. Match 2 happened on Saturday October 3rd, 2026 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where UND competed against ORU (Oral Roberts) Golden Eagles. UND won set 1, 25-17. North Dakota defeated the Golden Eagles in set 2, 25-12. The Hawks beat the Golden Eagles in set 3, 25-20. UND defeated ORU, 3-0.


        This week's Thursday Sports Feature Fighting Hawks Football's Ben Buxa. Ben Buxa proudly represents UND Football while donning jersey number 62. Buxa is a Senior Offensive Lineman from Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and has demonstrated remarkable dedication throughout his collegiate career by appearing in 32 games thus far. After sitting out during his Freshman year, Buxa's exceptional blocking prowess during his Sophomore campaign contributed significantly to the Fighting Hawks achieving an impressive ranking of number thirteen within the Football Championship Subdivision for red-zone scoring efficiency. During his Junior year, Buxa was instrumental on an Offensive Line unit that established several single-season Division One program records, including notable achievements in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. In recognition of his outstanding contributions both on and off the field, Ben Buxa earned the prestigious distinction of being selected to the 2025 Missouri Valley Football Conference Scholar Athlete 2nd Team, highlighting his excellence as both an athlete and student.
