The UND Fighting Hawks Football team on the Murray State University Racers in a thrilling Homecoming matchup held at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Early momentum belonged entirely to the visitors, as MSU stormed out to an impressive 14-0 advantage with two consecutive touchdowns in the opening quarter. The Racers continued their dominance into the second quarter when Mykel Allen punched in another touchdown, pushing their lead to a commanding 21-0 over the Hawks. However, the Fighting Hawks refused to back down and mounted an impressive comeback, scoring 21 unanswered points before Kenten Laughman delivered the go-ahead touchdown to give North Dakota a dramatic 24-21 halftime lead. Coming out of the locker room with renewed intensity, the Hawks absolutely took control of the game in the third quarter, with Tray Kuntz, Cameron Weir, and Charles Langama—who recorded two touchdowns in the period—combining to extend the lead to a commanding 52-21 advantage. The Hawks continued their defensive prowess in the fourth quarter when Kenten Laughman added another field goal, stretching the lead to 55-21. Though the Racers managed one final touchdown courtesy of Dimitri Howard to make it 55-28, it proved too little too late. The Fighting Hawks secured a decisive 55-28 victory, and remarkably, this win marked the 700th victory in the storied history of UND Football, a program that traces its roots all the way back to 1894.

The Fighting Hawks Softball team took the field for a pair of games on Sunday, October 4th, 2026. Their competition came from the UMC (University of Minnesota Crookston) Eagles. Through the opening four innings, both squads remained scoreless. When the 5th inning rolled around, UND broke through with 2 runs while UMC managed 1 run, putting the Fighting Hawks ahead 2-1. The 6th inning saw the Hawks add another run to their total, and the Eagles were held off the board, extending UND's lead to 3-1. By the time the 7th and final inning concluded, North Dakota had pushed across one more run, securing a 4-1 victory over the UMC Eagles. The second matchup of the day featured the Valley City State Vikings as opponents. North Dakota dominated that contest, cruising to a decisive 13-2 win against the Vikings.

Kicking off their 2026-2027 Hockey campaign, the UND Hockey squad participated in a pair of exhibition games. These contests took place at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The opening matchup featured the UND squad facing off against the AUG (Augustana) Vikings on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026. Throughout the first period, UND dominated the action. Ollie Josephson put the Green and White on the scoreboard early, establishing a 1-0 North Dakota advantage. As the 2nd period unfolded, both squads found the back of the net. Carson Carels extended UND's lead to 2-0 before AUG answered back with a goal from Joey DelGreco, narrowing the deficit to 2-1 North Dakota. Moving into the 3rd period, UND took complete control and added 2 more goals to their total. Will Zellers and Cody Croal each contributed goals, helping the team secure a dominant 4-1 victory over the Augustana Vikings to launch their season. The second contest, which occurred on Sunday, October 4th, 2026, pitted UND against UM (Manitoba) Bisons. During the first period, North Dakota scored 2 consecutive goals while Manitoba managed 1, resulting in a 2-1 UND lead. As the 2nd period progressed, each team added a goal to the scoreboard. Grady Lane scored for the Bisons and Carson Carels responded for UND, making it 3-1 North Dakota. By the 3rd period, North Dakota took over completely. Both Keaton Verhoeff and Anthony Menghini found the net with goals, allowing North Dakota to decisively defeat Manitoba 5-1.
